RN finds supportive environment to grow his career
Registered Nurse, Tino, joined Ross Memorial Hospital in mid-2019. After graduating with a Bachelor of Nursing from Humber College School of Nursing in collaboration with the University of New Brunswick, he was excited at the chance to leave the GTA to live and work in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
While he often works with the Medical Unit team, he enjoys working in many different units throughout the hospital. He described RMH as a supportive place to work. “Management here gets to know you, asks about your goals and aspirations, then supports you in reaching them,” shared Tino. “If you want to try out different areas of nursing, you can do that here.”
For Tino, the best part of working at RMH is the sense of teamwork. “If we don’t know something, we can ask each other. If another person on the team needs help, we jump in to help them.”
Nursing is rewarding, especially in our community,” says Tino. “It’s nice to run into patients in town or at the grocery store, and to see them doing well.
Tino often encourages others who are looking for a career in nursing to come to the City of Kawartha Lakes, and in particular, Ross Memorial Hospital, as our area offers a great balance of career opportunity and an active lifestyle. Tino enjoys hiking, kayaking and exploring all the area has to offer, and he says, “You can’t beat a 5-minute commute!”
