General Surgery
Ross Memorial Hospital’s General Surgery Program provides a safe and supportive environment. Surgeries include:
- Benign and malignant breast and colorectal disease
- Cholecystectomy
- Emergency general surgery (appendix, bowel obstruction, trauma, etc.)
- Hernia (inguinal - laparoscopic and open, femoral, incisional, umbilical)
- Lumps and bumps (basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, cysts, ingrown toenails, lipomas, etc.)
- Pancreatic cysts and lesions (Dr. Leal only)
- Upper and lower endoscopy
Referrals for General Surgery can be made via fax or through Ocean eReferral.
Meet The General Surgeons
Dr. Mostafa El-Beheiry
Dr. El-Beheiry completed his Residency in General Surgery at Western University, after earning his Medical Doctorate at McMaster University. He did his undergrad Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Biology at Queen’s University, and a Master of Science in Physiology from the University of Toronto. He has also completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery from the University of Manitoba. Dr. El-Beheiry has been a General Surgeon at Ross Memorial Hospital since 2019.

Dr. Julie Leal
Dr. Leal completed her general surgery residency training at the University of Calgary and went on to complete research and clinical fellowship training in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York and Stanford University in California, respectively. She was then Associate Professor of Surgery at Dalhousie University. Next was a Clinical Associate appointment with the division of General Surgery at Toronto General Hospital. Dr. Leal had been providing locum general surgery care at RMH and Fort Frances Hospital prior to her commitment as a fulltime General Surgeon at RMH beginning
in September 2025.

Dr. Jamie McNabb
Was born in Ross Memorial Hospital and raised in Lindsay. Earned his undergrad in Biology and Medicine from Western University, before completing the General Surgery Program at McMaster University. He returned to Lindsay and Ross Memorial Hospital in 2000, where he remains today.

Ocean eReferrals
If you are interested in setting up the Ocean eReferral platform, support from Ocean is available to facilitate this process.
The steps below summarize the onboarding process:
- The interested provider should complete this eReferral Sign-Up Form.
- The Ocean team will respond to the request within 48 hours and provide a step-by-step guide on how to create a user account on Ocean.
- If the provider is using one of the integrated EMRs (PS Suite, Accuro, Oscar Pro, or Med Access), the EMR vendor will be alerted of the request to integrate their Ocean site to the EMR.
- Once the integration request has been approved by the EMR vendor, Ocean will schedule a virtual, screen-share appointment with the clinic.
- Ocean will walk through the remaining set-up steps with the clinic/provider, either offline or online, based on the provider’s preference.
