Suicide Alertness program improves supporters' skills

Most people with thoughts of suicide invite help. Often these opportunities to help are missed, dismissed or avoided — leaving people more alone and at greater risk.

The safeTALK program (Suicide Alertness For Everyone) helps prepare people to be suicide alert and to engage people with thoughts of suicide and connect them with further help and care.

The program is aimed at family members, friends, caregivers and community support people including front-line workers, clergy, teachers and law enforcement.

The CMHA HKPR Branch in partnership with the RMH Family Care Centred Working Group will be conducting a safeTALK course at the Boys and Girls Club of Kawartha Lakes in Lindsay on November 13th.

The training will begin at 9:00 AM and will end at 12:00 PM . The cost for attending the course will be just $10 as the cost of the course has been subsidized by the Boys and Girls Club of Kawartha Lakes and the Youth Suicide Prevention Network.
