RMH applauds generations of service and excellence

Ross Memorial Hospital values its employees’ efforts and abilities — it also values their experience.

Among the 138 employees being celebrated for their long service, 36 employees have reached 25, 30, 35 — even 40 years at the Ross.

Art Hornibrook thanked the employees on behalf of the Board of Governors:

“When you think about the hospital’s new vision statement, Exceptional Care – Together, I know that you think about the teams you work closely with, as well as the physicians and volunteers you see regularly, the patients and their families. You have more people on your side, supporting your efforts and lending assistance from the sidelines. People who champion your work and celebrate your achievements. On behalf of the Board of Governors, and a grateful community, thank you for your commitment to the Ross.”

Following the Long Service Awards, the James Ross Awards of Excellence were presented to six individuals: Cheryl Little (Nursing), Alison Rees (Paramedical), Dave Moose (Support Services), Tracy Dunn (Administrative), Dr. Merv Stone (Physician) and Karen Simser (Auxiliary).

James Ross Award of Excellence - Individual Recipients

The 2015 James Ross Team Award was presented to the members of the Surgical Program. The nomination included the following statements: “The team’s professionalism is always there … I’ve learned that when a call comes that the OR is ready, I will hear ‘I’ll get the stretcher, I’ll get the chart, consent signed, patient ready to go… TEAMWORK. I’ve learned that the Surgical Team is a special group that goes above and beyond and are very deserving of the James Ross Award for a team.”

The James Ross Community Award recognizes the efforts of an individual or group in the community who are not employees of the hospital, but have made a positive impact on the hospital and its patients. This year, Lee-Ann Eastman of the Canadian Mental Health Association received the award for her role helping clients transition from hospital to home.

President and CEO, Dr. Bert Lauwers praised the long service and excellence award recipients for their exceptional efforts and their commitment to the community.
